Mergers & Acquisitions:

  • Food distribution:
    San Francisco based GrubMarket announced the acquisition of Vancouver based Sustainable Produce Urban Delivery (SPUD), an online B2C grocery services provider operating three distribution centres totaling over 85,000 sq ft in Burnaby, Calgary and Edmonton. The acquisition does not include SPUD’s brick-and-mortar retail banners, Blush Lane Organic Market and Be Fresh Market.

  • Manufacturing:
    Toronto based Canerector announced the acquisition of Dauphin, MB based RITZ Machine Works Inc., a manufacturer of precision-formed tubular and fabricated metal components. RITZ also has operations in Cambridge, MN.

  • Construction services:
    Calgary based Elevate Energy Group, a provider of electrical & instrumentation construction, maintenance, field automation, and other related services, announced the acquisition of the Commissioning Services team of Calgary based Dynamysk Automation Ltd.  The target focuses on commissioning, completions and turnaround offerings.

  • Food & beverage:
    HF Foods Group Inc. (NASDAQ:HFFG) announced the $47.9MM acquisition of Richmond, BC based Searay Foods Inc., an importer and distributor of ethnic and specialty frozen seafood to expand into Canada. The transaction is valued at ~5x 2025 EBITDA.

  • Healthcare services:
    Vancouver based Prima Living closed the $118MM acquisition of nine retirement communities in Ontario with 689 units from Chartwell Retirement Residences (TSX:CSH-UN).

  • Manufactured housing:
    Firm Capital Property Trust (TSX:FCD-UN) announced the acquisition of a 50% interest via a joint venture with Sunpark Communities, LP in a 10 property, 1,649 site manufactured housing community in Alberta and Saskatchewan for $218MM.
