Mergers and Acquisitions:

  • Black Diamond Group Ltd. (TSX:BDI) announced the $165MM acquisition of Royal Camp Services Ltd., an Edmonton based remote accommodation and catering services provider. The acquisition includes Royal’s subsidiary, Summit Camps. The combined entities will have ~12,000 rooms in capacity nationwide. The acquisition was based on a 4x to 5x EBITDA multiple based on the past three-year average Adjusted EBITDA, and is expected to close before the end of 2025.

  • Calgary based 360 Engineering and Environmental Consulting announced the acquisition of Ottawa based Outcome Consultants, a mining construction, engineering, and environmental consulting services provider. The acquisition will provide its client base with an expanded team and broader capabilities, including established joint ventures across Canada’s North.

  • Green Impact Partners Inc. (TSXV:GIP) announced the private, arm’s-length purchaser of its water, waste treatment, and recycling facilities in AB and SK, has failed to meet closing obligations under the terms of the purchase agreement. The closing date for the $53.25MM transaction that was originally announced in May 2025 have been extended several times, and GIP is considering all contractual options available currently.

  • E&P: Tamarack Valley Energy Ltd. (TSX:TVE) announced the sale of non-core assets in eastern Alberta to a private company for $112MM. The assets are located in the Veteran Consort and Eyehill areas with an estimated production of 4,000 boe per day, or 6% of Tamarack’s total corporate production. Proceeds from the sale will initially be used to reduce debt.

Financing:

  • Keyera Corp. (TSX:KEY) announced a $2.3B senior unsecured notes and a $500MM fixed-to-fixed rate subordinated notes offering to fund its acquisition of Plains Midstream Canada ULC. The notes consist of various terms with interest rates ranging from 3.702% to 6.000%.

  • The federal government announced $9MM over three years in funding to the Alberta Institute for Machine Intelligence (Amii) to train ~5,000 mid-career workers in the energy sector with AI skills. The training will be delivered both in-person and online.

Other:

  • The federal government and the British Columbia provincial government approved the Ksi Lisims LNG Project to be built on B.C.’s northwest coast near Gingolx. Construction for the 12 million tons per year capacity project is expected to begin this year and be operational by 2029. The project’s final investment decision (FID) is expected by the end of 2025.
