Mergers & Acquisitions:
Laval, QC based Englobe Corp., a subsidiary of Colliers (TSX:CIGI), announced the acquisition of Calgary based Tetranex, a Calgary based engineering and project management firm specializing in electrical, instrumentation and controls, automation, and multi-discipline engineering project delivery. Tetranex consists of over 200 personnel operating from offices in Calgary, Grande Prairie, and Lethbridge, primarily serving the energy, agrifood, and industrial sectors.
Other:
St. John’s, NL based Fermeuse Energy Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with South Korean energy conglomerate Hanwha Group to develop the Newfoundland and Labrador LNG project in the Jeanne d'Arc Basin. Hanwha will provide development, engineering, financing, ship building, and LNG logistics support across the proposed project’s value chain.
Canada Energy Regulator (CER) issued a recommendation approval to increase Westcoast Energy GP Inc.’s Sunrise Expansion program by 17 per cent capacity. The expansion involves adding 11 natural gas pipeline loops, two overhead power lines, and other facility upgrades between Chetwynd, BC and Huntington/Sumas by the BC border.
OPEC+ announced an agreement to keep oil output unchanged for March 2026 over the weekend. This follows an increase in production quotas from April to December 2025 by 2.9MM bbls or 3 per cent of global output.
The Bank of Canada held key interest rates at 2.25 per cent on January 28th. The next interest rate decision is scheduled for March 18th.
